ZachXBT just dropped some major tea earlier today about how Revolut spilled highly sensitive personal and financial deets on certain customers after falling for what looked like an authentic government request. 😱
They emailed the affected users admitting the leaked records included passports, verification selfies, addresses, and complete Bitcoin transaction history. 🖤
The Juicy Details That Got Out 😈
In the email shared by ZachXBT on his Telegram page Revolut explained they received a request that seemed to come from a legit agency. The sender used the agency’s real email domain with valid authentication creds yet it turned out unauthorized.
They fulfilled it thinking everything was fine. The info exposed stuff like full names, dates of birth, occupations, home addresses, emails, and phone numbers. Even more sensitive bits involved copies of passports or driver’s licenses plus those verification selfies. At least the biometric facial data stayed safe tho. 👀
Still they handed over financial info including account statements with IBANs, account opening dates, wallet reference numbers, withdrawal records, and the full transaction history featuring all those BTC moves. 💸
So far Revolut has not named the agency involved and the notice does not mention if passwords, private keys, or funds got touched. 🔪
Going After The Big Bags Only? 📜
The on-chain sleuth called the incident likely limited in size since it seemed focused on high-net-worth users though that remains unconfirmed.
This looks like an unauthorized disclosure rather than any direct hack on Revolut’s systems. The company tells government bodies to use their official request channel instead. 🎀
