Hyperliquid’s Policy Hub Slyly Nudges The SEC For Five Crypto Rule Tweaks 🕷️🖤

HPC just dropped some fire on the SEC pushing for five tweaks to their Regulation Crypto Assets proposal rn 🖤 The group is all in on the idea but says it needs extra clarity to ditch legal headaches for devs. Their whole vibe is making the US way more friendly for crypto projects without the extra uncertainty 🕸️ Crypto builders have been lost AF figuring out when tokens count as securities for years. The SEC has been cooking up fixes since 2026 with that March interpretation hitting airdrops and token drops hard. Five months later they slid in the full Regulation Crypto Assets proposal. This one unlocks token offerings up to 5 million over four years via startup exemption plus another path for 75 million in just twelve months. It also drops a safe harbor to clarify when tokens break free from investment contracts 💀 HPC followed up with a comment letter supporting it all while calling for five key refinements.

Airdrops N Token Trading Vibes 👀

First up they want the SEC to straight up confirm in the final rule that airdrop recipients getting tokens for free didn’t drop any money on them. Users might snag tokens from using networks, running validators or providing liquidity and those moves shouldn’t auto turn it into an investment contract fr. They also need the SEC to clear that basic stuff like wallet connects or sanctions checks don’t count as payment for tokens. On secondary trading the group says the SEC must spell out exactly how these exempt tokens can trade and if on chain protocols or intermediaries can handle it without needing agency registration 🌙

Safe Harbor, Buybacks N Federal Shields 🔥

The safe harbor part has certification requirements that could trap projects in a weird spot. Some devs might not certify finishing their core work without implying the tokens were securities all along. HPC wants the safe harbor usable without that admission and protection extended to projects still building their networks 🦇 For token buybacks they push a consistent issuer definition across the rule while folding in staff guidance and separating auto buybacks from case by case ones. Last they want federal protections to stick around even after hitting safe harbor status. Right now those protections would vanish and leave tokens exposed to registration rules in over 50 different spots 💅 The whole thing keeps crypto flowing without unnecessary drama tho ✨
