Bitcoin’s Cryptic Drips for August 3 ๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ•ธ๏ธ

Bitcoin’s been slipping into the shadows over the past few days ๐Ÿ–ค Potential reasons for this dip range from the Coldcard exploit and fading institutional vibes to Strategy’s recent moves. Here’s the full breakdown on what’s unfolding.

Coldcard Shadows Stirring ๐Ÿ•ธ๏ธ

Last week Coinkite the minds behind the Coldcard hardware wallet alerted users that their Bitcoin could be exposed if seed phrases came from certain firmware versions. This warning followed reports of nearly 40 million dollars in BTC vanishing from affected devices. The attacks kept rolling in fresh waves and at one point the drained total hit 1367.05 coins worth around 88.6 million dollars. Alex Thorn from Galaxy Digital spotted another organized strike noting “These are likely Coldcard victims โ€“ they match the shape of Coldcard vulnerable UTXOs and the elevated transaction pattern gives me high confidence they are another wave of attacks.” He urged everyone to shift funds immediately. As expected this exploit darkened market sentiment pushing Bitcoin’s positive to negative commentary ratio across X Reddit and Telegram to its lowest point yet. https://x.com/glxyresearch/status/2083623500183421043?s=20

Bitcoin ETF Currents ๐ŸŒ‘

July opened strong with spot BTC ETFs pulling in nearly 200 million dollars in net inflows during the first week unlike the rough June patch. Interest dipped mid month but rebounded into seven straight green days from July 14 to July 22 the longest streak since April. Outflows have taken over since while fresh August data remains pending. Conservative players like pension funds and hedge funds often favor these ETFs for their regulated access without the hassle of handling private keys. Giants such as BlackRock Fidelity Bitwise and Franklin Templeton have rolled out similar offerings.

Strategy’s Bold Reposition ๐Ÿ’€

Just hours ago Michael Saylor revealed Strategy boosted its USD Reserve by 250 million dollars and bought back 81 million dollars worth of STRC shares. A deeper look showed they also offloaded 1637 BTC for about 105 million dollars between July 27 and August 2. Their holdings now sit at 842138 coins down from 843775.

Bitcoin’s Dark Horizon ๐Ÿ”ฎ

All this news has weighed on BTC lately. It currently hovers near 63600 dollars marking a 1 percent weekly drop. August often brings extra pressure as the month has closed red in 9 out of the past 13 years.
