Jamie Dimon straight up called bitcoin a fraud and worthless back in the day, even labeling it a decentralized Ponzi scheme that he’d shut down if he ran the government. 💀
Flashback to the Hate Era 🖤
One of his first on-camera rants hit in 2017 when he slammed the top crypto as a total fraud destined to explode. He swore JPM traders messing with it would get fired and compared it to the tulip bubble tho. He later walked back the fraud word but stayed salty for years. ✨
Four years on he told folks to stay away from crypto cuz it couldn’t touch fiat or gold. Bitcoin was just worthless and fool’s gold of the future in his eyes lol. By 2022 the shade got darker as he dubbed it a decentralized Ponzi scheme and in 2023 he brushed it off as a pet rock. 👀
The wildest blow came during a senate hearing when he said he’d close crypto down if in charge while tying it to crime vibes. 😈
The Plot Twist Hits Hard 🚀
Even with all that trash talk JPM’s moves were already flipping the script fr. They dropped JPM Coin, built out Onyx blockchain stuff, handled tokenized deals with big players like BlackRock, threw cash at TRM Labs and opened crypto funds to their wealth clients. 💰
The gap between his public shade and the bank’s actual plays is straight up wild rn. JPM just let big clients use BTC and ETH as loan collateral which is one of the boldest crypto nods yet. 🌟
They teamed with Coinbase so Chase card users can buy crypto easier and JPM Securities even backed BlackRock’s spot Bitcoin ETF. 😂
On the chain side JPM Coin landed on Ethereum and Base while tokenized money market funds popped up on Ethereum too. They’re expanding to Canton Network next. 🔮
After last week’s report the bank still flags BTC volatility but now predicts it could crush large cap stocks REITs and gold over the next 10 to 15 years with around 10 percent compounded yearly returns. The same asset once called fraud is looking pretty unstoppable. 😏
