President Donald Trump is hosting this White House event on Wednesday to call out his administration’s moves against those sneaky foreign criminal networks pulling Americans into fake crypto investments. 🖤 His own family is deep in chasing crypto investments tho.
Cabinet Crew Gathers for the Scam Crackdown Spotlight 💀
Cybercrime prevention is the whole vibe of this session. The president and his cabinet will highlight the government’s takedowns of shady crypto investment sites. They will also push efforts against online impersonation scams. Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin. FBI Director Kash Patel. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Attorney General Todd Blanche are all set to show up. Americans filed over 1 million internet scam complaints last year. That’s a 17% jump from 2024. Those who complained faced the biggest losses rn.
Family Crypto Ties Leave Investors Deep in the Red 🌙
Trump’s latest financial disclosure shows most of his 2.2 billion dollars last year came straight from digital currencies. This includes around 600 million from World Liberty Financial and 636 million from Trump meme coin sales. He defended the earnings as nothing illegal or wrong. Critics like John Oliver claim it gives investors a direct line to the White House for cash. The White House insists no conflicts exist here. Consumer groups estimate investors in Trump-linked crypto plays are at least 4.7 billion dollars underwater since 2022. The TRUMP meme coin makes up about 3.2 billion of that. It has dropped over 97% from its peak of 73 dollars. WLFI investors sit at least 1 billion dollars in the red by the same count. Senators Elizabeth Warren and Richard Blumenthal want the SEC to probe the meme coin over possible fraud. Trump’s stakes remain in a revocable trust he controls fully.
