The cryptocurrency market has dipped back into crimson after bitcoin faced rejection on Friday before sliding to a multi-week low yet some tokens are shining exceptions π.
Pi Networkβs native token stands out even after its recent woes. Surprisingly PI has climbed 5% over the past day following a key reminder from the core team π·οΈ.
Core Team Drops Protocol Upgrade Alert π€
The core team shared on X that the blockchain has already started migrating to the next major protocol version 26. Just like earlier notices the message stressed how vital it is for Pi Validators to finish their upgrades by the August 11 cutoff or risk disconnection from the network πͺ.
Protocol version 26 ranks as one of the largest updates from the team and possibly the biggest since v20.2 which set the stage for smart contract building. This release focuses on boosting contract safety state management interoperability and cryptographic capabilities π.
It arrives ahead of the final planned upgrade protocol version 27 expected sometime in late August or September π¦.
Reminder: the Pi Mainnet is upgrading to Protocol v26. All Mainnet node operators must complete the upgrade by August 11 to remain connected to the network.

The core team confirmed the August 11 deadline earlier this week which signals that protocol version 25 rolled out successfully even without an immediate official note at the time.
PI Surges Amid Market Dip πΈοΈ
Only a tiny share of recent Pi Network updates product features app redesigns or new developments from the past month have lifted the native token however the version 26 deadline from days ago plus last nightβs reminder could be the outlier π.
PI soared right after the first announcement of the upcoming protocol version 26 and repeated the move over the last 24 hours. It is now up 5% daily sitting at $0.086 after testing $0.088 just hours earlier despite the wider market weakness led by BTC dropping to $62,400.
Still the bigger picture for PI stays grim. The asset has fallen more than 97% from its all-time high back in February of last year while its market cap stays under $1 billion placing it as the 68th largest by that measure.
